Surf SUP Boards
Surfing instructors in Hawaii in the 1940s stood on their surf boards and used a paddle to help them see and instruct their students - this in essence is the start of paddleboarding in surf. With the boards being bigger than traditional prone surfboards its easier to catch a wave and you have a paddle. This means catching small waves is entirely doable by most people. The Surf SUP really does open the doors for many into the world of catching waves.
