A kitesurf foil board is designed to ride above the water on a hydrofoil, using lift from an underwater wing. The foil allows the board to fly smoothly with minimal drag, giving incredible speed and glide — even in light wind.
It depends on your experience, weight and wind conditions:
Beginners: 30–40L volume and 120–145cm length for easier starts.
Intermediate/advanced riders: 15–25L volume and 90–120cm length for quicker response.
A larger board helps you get up and flying sooner; smaller boards feel more dynamic once you’re confident.
More volume = more buoyancy and stability at low speeds. It helps during waterstarts, foot placement and tacking. Lower volume = lighter, more responsive and agile once you’re foiling. Advanced riders prefer minimal volume for direct feel.
