D/LAB construction delivers maximum performance through the lightest and most advanced construction available. This is the highest level of performance Duotone produces, and it is what many of their team riders use when competing at the highest levels. These riders demonstrate what is possible with the most advanced equipment, but it also raises an important question — do you need the highest-end construction if you are not pushing performance to its limits?
If you are still learning the basics and regularly crashing, Original construction is the right choice. It is designed to handle the demands of progression while remaining stable, predictable and durable. As your riding improves and you begin riding more confidently in a wider range of conditions, upgrading construction becomes more relevant.
Most riders upgrade gradually, often starting with the piece of equipment they use the most or where performance gains will be most noticeable. In kitesurfing, this could be the board or your most-used kite size. In foiling, it may be the board, mast or front wing.
