What size wakeboard do I need?
Wakeboard size depends mainly on your weight, ability and riding style.
- 50–60 kg → 130–134 cm
- 60–80 kg → 135–139 cm
- 80–95 kg → 140–144 cm
- 95 kg+ → 145 cm+
If in doubt, size up slightly for smoother landings and easier starts.
- Heavier riders need longer boards for more surface area and stability.
- Lighter riders often choose shorter boards for more control.
What’s the difference between a boat wakeboard and a cable park wakeboard?
- Boat boards are stiffer with deeper channels and fins for grip on the wake’s face.
- Cable boards are softer with flat bases and reinforced edges for hitting obstacles
You can ride a cable board behind a boat or at a park, but boat boards with channels and fins dont mix well with the cable park features. Boards designed for one tend to perform better in that environment.
What does rocker mean on a wakeboard?
The rocker is the curve from tip to tail.
- Continuous rocker = smooth curve for a faster, consistent ride.
- 3-Stage rocker = flatter centre with more kick at the tips for extra pop off the wake.
Some modern boards use a hybrid rocker, combining the two for balance between speed and lift.
What’s the difference between a beginner and advanced wakeboard?
Beginner boards are more forgiving — often wider, with softer flex and deeper channels for easy control.
Advanced boards are stiffer, faster and built for riders who want more response, pop, and edge hold for tricks or air.
Do I need specific bindings for my wakeboard?
Yes — most wakeboards use 6-inch binding plates, but check the insert pattern matches your board.
