O’Neill Hyperfreak Fire 5/4+ Hooded CZ 2027 Wetsuit

When the water drops towards single figures and the wind is coming straight off the sea, the Hyperfreak Fire 5/4+ Hooded is the suit O’Neill builds for it. It takes the brand’s flagship cold-water platform and adds an integrated hood, so your head and neck are covered as well as your core: no separate hood to fit, no gap at the collar, and a lot less wind chill on a long winter session.

The warmth comes from O’Neill’s TB4 Firewall construction, a lining woven with recycled graphene-infused fibres that captures body heat and sends it back to you instead of letting it leak out, over TechnoButter 4 neoprene made from pre-stretched, water-shedding yarns. The extra half a millimetre in the “5/4+” adds insulation in the key panels without turning the suit into a straitjacket, and softer TechnoButter 4X stretch neoprene keeps the arms and shoulders free for paddling, kiteboarding, surfing and wing sessions.

To keep the cold out, the seams are glued and blindstitched on the inside and sealed on the outside with a liquid fluid seam weld. The chest-zip entry uses O’Neill’s F.U.Z.E. closure, a free-floating panel with a full anti-flush barrier and drain holes, so it is easy to get in and out of while keeping the water-in-the-neck shock to a minimum.
