A parawing is a lightweight, packable kite on short lines used for foiling — often for downwind or crosswind runs. Unlike a traditional wing or kite you can pack down a parawing into a small bundle or stash it away to allow you to ride waves or swell without any obstruction.
Parawings are primarily used for downwind foiling, but they also work for crosswind cruising, up/downwind runs as well as wave riding. They’re especially popular for riders who already downwind SUP or wing foil and want to ride the downwind rolling swell with nothing in their hands.
Its not essential but some foiling and wind powered sports experience will help. Parawinging lends itself to those who can already wing foil as there are many transferable skills.
To learn no. If you have a board that you can stand on and get foiling comfortably then you can learn to parawing. Having a downwind or midlength board will make it easier to get going as they are easier to build board speed on and parawings do not pump as well as a standard wing.

Avoid coiled leashes. As parawings are close to you and have lots of thin lines they have a tendancy to catch/tangle on anything/everything. A straight leash will save you some time.
