  • Do I need a wing and board leash?

    Yes. The leashes keep you from loosing your kit but also they keep you attached to high buoyant pieces of kit so in the worst case scenario you have a float.

     
  • What types of wing leashes are there?

    • Wrist leash: simple, direct connection, great for beginners and smaller wings. Coiled or straight its your choice.

    • Waist leash: keeps your hands free and reduces tangles — ideal for downwinding and advanced riders.

    • Harness-mounted leash: clips to your harness or belt for an uncluttered setup and minimal tension on your arms.

     
  • How long should a wing leash be?

    Usually between 1.2–1.8m (4–6 ft), depending on wing size. Bigger wings need the longer leashes so you can reach down to the very rear of the boom/handles.

    • Shorter leashes: tidier and less likely to tangle.

    • Longer leashes: allow the wing to drift farther during transitions or falls.
  • What type of leash should I use for the board?

    A coiled waist leash designed for foiling is the most common option. A coiled leash stays out of the water, reducing drag and stopping it from snagging the foil and having it attached to your waist keeps it from getting under your feet.
