THE ICON OF VERSATILE PERFORMANCE
The secret lies in the unique double concave bottom, combined with a continuous rocker and 3-stage outline, making the Protoy work perfectly in just about any conditions. The updated 3-Stage outline improves the stability at faster speeds and increases the pop for the more freestyle oriented rider. The shape performs in conjunction with the high level of damping and response found in our multi-zone Bio-tech core, combined with the Full Dual Carbon construction.
Target User Advanced freeride and freestyle performance.
Rails Square ABS rail for durability and a fast clean water release.
Rocker Continuous rocker for comfort and maneuverability.
Flex Medium stiffness rating for a good blend of comfort and pop.
Bottom Shape The double concave bottom softens the ride in choppy conditions, increases the directional stability at speed and enhances edging and low wind performance.
Planform The wide tips of the Protoy offer a huge level of pop blended with stability at speed. Three stage outline with freestyle oriented tip ratio.
Fins The wake series fins offer a combination of good tracking while being forgiving when turning.
Footbed type Comes with the AFT Team foot pads and straps
BIO TECH CORE The Airush Multizone Biotech construction is a vertical wood core sandwich comprising of a dual density Balsa and Poplar core with ABS rail and tips. The higher density poplar stringer creates a hyper responsive center section while the outer balsa section minimizes the weight. Our wood cores are renowned for their response, durability and smoothness, and are combined with a versatile tri axial laminate for all-round performance and durability.
DUAL CARBON The Dual Carbon Biotech construction offers an incredible combination of reduced weight with high durability in an intermediate flex board. The additional stiffness of the full Carbon fiber top and bottom layer allow us to reduce the core thickness and materials used, leading to a significant weight saving over a glass board. Both top and bottom decks feature a durable PPT top sheet layer to protect the laminate.
FLIP TIP The ABS flip tip enhances ride comfort, specifically in choppier water, by preventing the nose of the board from pearling and directing spray from the nose forward and away from the rider.
FMS RATING Airush introduced FMS rating 4 years ago as the first brand to quantify how much a twintip flexes, instead of the good old “feel” test, which can be very deceptive due to the impact of the length on the overall stiffness. FMS takes into account the boards length and deflection and lower rating indicating a softer board. Softer boards are more suited to freeride, while stiffer boards are more suited to Freestyle.
TIPS & TUNING The Double concave bottom of the Protoy makes it a winner if you are riding in very short chop. The Protoy is the least locked in of our boards, so if you crave manoeuvrability it’s a good choice, if you want something more stable, go for a Switch.
