F-One release all-new SUPkiting kite: The Source
I’m out here in the Carmargue region of France on behalf of F-One Kiteboarding. We knew we were going to see some new kites, but we weren’t expecting this…
The Source is their all new SUP kite, so called because it harkens back to the original simple days of our sport. It’s dedicated to the pursuit of kiting on SUP boards of different sizes. The current size breakdown is:
9m, 11m, 13m, 15m and 17m.
Those sizes are much bigger than I’d have reckoned you’d need, but they are all made to operate in very light winds, with the 17m wind range topping out at just 10knots.
Other features of The Source:
- 2 line simplicity - Cross over bridle for fast turning - Uber simple bar - Very light weight - Expected very good price - Packs down very small for travelling
The Source is designed to get you out and ripping fast on those marginal days. So far it sounds like the ultimate conclusion for light wind being that you’re using a huge SUP board. My initial thoughts are that it could present a totally new solution for kite schools as well as giving a very low impact / low risk way to get on the water for anyone else.
I’m en route to Beadeauc to test The Source, I’ll let you know how it goes.
