The wind started off light however built during the day to allow for some fun competitions in the kitelandboard / kitebuggy arena while the racers managed to get in 4 races in a building SE wind. That wrapped it up for the Saturday with a buffet and bands in O’Gradys the local Irish Bar.
Sunday dawned wet – and great fun was had by the youth and juniors in the huge flooded promenade with a skim board. However the sun broke through and the wind started to build.
It was bang offshore leading to gusty conditions however all racers hit the water to complete in another 2 races. Leader Callum Edge was in for a battle against Denzil Williams - It was a surprise as due to the conditions equipment choice was paramount – many new riders sneaked into the top 3 – Jim Gaunt getting a 3rd while Rou Chater a 1st – leaving the event like Cheshire cats !
All the kitelandboard and kitebuggy freestylers did a great job in the difficult conditions busting out some great new moves – all have been practicing hard and some great unhooked riding was seen.
In the Freestyle Kitesurfing the Junior comp was the only one which was completed due to the gusty conditions – Robbie Shire Maidment showing his skills to good effect not only in the Kitesurf freestyle but the kitelandboard arena as well
